House Plan Will Spur Innovation, Investment in Families, Christian Employer Alliance Chief Says

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A leading national voice among Christian employers is calling the House GOP Tax Plan — the “Big Beautiful Bill” — a major legislative victory in the making, because it would extend and expand tax credits, increase tax deductions, and lower income tax brackets.

CEA President Margaret Iuculano says the bill’s extension of the research and development (R&D) tax credit for businesses will protect the freedom employers need to innovate.

“The bill incentivizes U.S. businesses to invest in the research, risk, and rewards that drive innovation,” stated Iuculano. “By continuing to let employers expense 100% of their qualified domestic R&D costs through 2029, the bill gives businesses the runway they need to reach for the skies.”

The House GOP plan would allow full and immediate expensing of 100% of the cost of equipment and machinery (an increase from the 40% allowed in 2025). It would also increase the pass-through deduction for small businesses (Section 199A) from 20% to 23%.

Iuculano says that in addition to lowering the cost of business innovation, the proposed House plan doubles down on relief for individuals and families first provided by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA).

“While helping employers invest in their businesses, the House bill would help employees invest in their families,” Iuculano said. “Families are generally better equipped to spend their hard-earned income for the benefit of American households than anyone else, including and especially the federal government.”

Specifically, the bill would raise the child tax credit from $2,000 to $2,500 per child through 2028, permanently lower individual income tax brackets, and increase the standard deduction for single filers.
