Christian Employers Alliance unveils landmark analysis of lawmakers’ votes on biblical principles

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Christian Employers Alliance (CEA) has released the first-ever 50-state ranking that measures how closely members of Congress vote in alignment with biblical principles. The findings reveal a sharp national divide: Wyoming ranked #1 with the strongest pro-faith and pro-freedom record, while Vermont ranked #50 with votes least aligned to biblical values.

“Each state sends to Washington representatives who reflect the beliefs of its people. That’s why these rankings provide one of the most accurate pictures of where America stands,” said CEA President Margaret Iuculano. “The contrast is dramatic – over 90% of votes cast by Wyoming lawmakers aligned with biblical principles, compared to less than 1% from Vermont’s delegation. These results underscore why redistricting battles are so critical to the future of our nation.”

The study was conducted in partnership with the Institute for Legislative Analysis (ILA). Policy experts and theologians reviewed every bill in the most recent session of Congress, identified those with a biblical connection, paired them with corresponding Scripture (New International Version), and scored each lawmaker on alignment with biblical principles. State rankings were then calculated by averaging the scores of each delegation.

The data was compiled within the Biblical Business Index, a first-of-its-kind policy intelligence platform guiding CEA’s faith-based business leaders in investment, operational, and political decisions. CEA has also debuted state-level Biblical Business Indexes for five legislatures, with plans to expand coverage to all 50 states and their 7,400 lawmakers.

“CEA is proud to equip Christian business leaders with a tool built on the ultimate truth – the Word of God,” Iuculano said. “This Index provides clarity and confidence for decision-making in a rapidly changing culture.”
